Coloured flakes & integrated sidewall – Goodyear concept tyre for Opel Experimental
Goodyear has joined forces with German automotive brand Opel to develop a custom tyre for the Opel Experimental concept car. The tyre maker says the unique features of its creation, including a custom sidewall, tread design, and compound, “seamlessly complement the striking aesthetics of the Opel Experimental concept, highlighting Goodyear’s dedication to delivering unforgettable design alongside this esteemed OEM.”
The sidewall of the Goodyear tyre is “integrated” with the Ronal rim featured on the Opel Experimental to achieve “aerodynamic efficiency.” Goodyear credits its own “meticulous engineering” as key to tailoring the tyre’s capabilities to enhance the vehicle’s aerodynamic performance, the result being “great energy efficiency.”
Goodyear has incorporated coloured flakes into the tyre’s compound, a stylistic element it considers to be in alignment with Opel’s “Bold and Pure” design philosophy. “This innovative integration further enhances the uniqueness and distinction of the tyre, adding an extra layer of aesthetics,” comments Goodyear.
“The Opel Experimental concept provides the perfect canvas to showcase Goodyear’s design capability,” says Laurent Colantonio, Goodyear’s senior director Technology Consumer EMEA. “This visionary car embodies Opel’s commitment to extreme precision and high attention to detail, which resonate strongly with our own values. We are truly honoured to have been chosen as partners for this exhilarating venture and to have the opportunity to craft a bespoke tyre that perfectly complements this extraordinary concept car.”
Stellantis will present the Opel Experimental featuring custom Goodyear tyres at the IAA Mobility in Munich from 5 to 10 September 2023.
