Yokohama launches new EV and all-season SUV tyres at the Nürburgring
Yokohama Europe has invited journalists from across the continent to attend the launch of the Advan Sport EV V108 at the renowned Nurburgring racetrack in Germany. Yokohama launched the Geolandar CV 4S G061 crossover-oriented tyre at the same time. Meanwhile, the event also incorporated a celebration of the 45th anniversary of Yokohama’s flagship Advan brand.
Yokohama describes the Advan Sport EV V108 as a “new high performance summer tyre”, adding that it has been specially made for electric vehicles. In order to demonstrate the new tyre’s prowess, Yokohama has provided Tesla Model 3 cars equipped with 235/45 ZR18 98Y Advan Sport EV V108 tyres as well as Advan Sport V107 tyres as a way of comparing the two product lines.
The new tyre features an even newer E+ marking which signifies the different technologies applied to the Advan Sport EV V108 in order to make it a designated electric vehicle tyre. With that in mind, it is no surprise to learn that the product is being pitched at drivers of Tesla electric cars (amongst others) and specifically Model 3 and Y drivers within that bracket. The Advan Sport EV V108 will be available in 32 17- to 20-inch sizes during the course of 2023. The range is H to V-rated in terms of speed.
Yokohama’s Geolandar CV 4S G061, on the other hand, is described as a new all-season tyre for Crossover SUVs. And it is being pitched at the intersection between road-focused winter performance and long mileage on the one hand and between cars and light trucks on the other. During the event, the new tyre’s dry handling is being demonstrated with the fitment of 225/65 R17 102H Geolandar CV 4S G061 tyres to a Mazda CX-5 in order to contrast them with Pirelli’s Cinturato All-Season SF2.
Advan’s 45th anniversary celebrations include the chance to test-drive the flagship Advan Sport V107 in various conditions as well as the Advan A052 and Advan Neova AD09.
