Strong tyre presence at Steinexpo
Next month, the Steinexpo raw materials and building materials industry trade fair returns after a long absence. Around 400 brands are expected to be present at the show in Germany from 23 to 26 August, including a number of familiar names.
Bridgestone
Bridgestone will present its comprehensive OTR tyre portfolio at Steinexpo, focusing this year on tyres for construction equipment used in quarrying. A new addition to the range is the Bridgestone VMTD tyre for rigid dump trucks, off-road trucks and coal haulers in size 24.00R35.
According to Bridgestone, the VMTD has an extra-deep tread (13 per cent more than the previous-generation tyre) for maximum traction on unpaved roads, offers excellent durability and is ideally suited for use in quarries and mining. Compared to predecessor tyre the Bridgestone VMTP, the VMTD offers an eight per cent improvement in load capacity as well as six per cent higher TKPH.
Continental
Continental will show off its latest member of the ContiEarth range, the LD Master L5 Traction. Specifically developed for loaders, this construction tyre offers smooth ride and long service life despite heavy loads and abrasive surfaces. In addition to the LD-Master L5 Traction, Continental is presenting its EM-Master E3/L3 for ADTs and CompactMaster EM.
Magna Tyres
Magna Tyres, which first exhibited at Steinexpo at the 2017 show, will present its comprehensive range this year. The company intends to showcase five products from its current Magna range: MA01+ in 23.5R25, MA05 in 26.5R25, the MA08 in 29.5R25, M-Terrain in 750/65 R25 and the MA11 in size 405/70 R20. Magna Tyres also plans to use Steinexpo to introduce its new M-Truck range in five models: the CO10, RG10, RG20, CO30 and RG31.
Marangoni & Westlake
Marangoni is bringing its new dump truck tyre to Steinexpo. The MRLT2 is a retreaded tyre with a non-directional, deep tread in an extra-wide design. According to Marangoni, the tyre offers good traction even when operating on hard ground as well as optimum stability and high protection with a long service life, and also has excellent self-cleaning properties. As a retreaded tyre, MRLT2 is cheaper than a new tyre and its manufacture requires only around 70 per cent of the energy needed to produce a new tyre. Marangoni developed MRLT2 specifically for dump trucks in quarry applications and offers the tyre in sizes 21.00 R33, 24.00 R35 and 27.00 R49.
Marangoni also sells a range of new tyres produced by ZC Rubber. As a counterpart to the MRLT2, it is introducing the Westlake CB785 at Steinexpo. The Westlake CB785 features a three-star casing and is available in sizes 18.00 R33, 21.00 R33, 21.00 R35, 24.00 R35 and 27.00 R49 sizes.
Michelin
Michelin will promote its 4R approach – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Renew – during Steinexpo, presenting amongst other things the Michelin X Tweel wheel and tyre combination for skid steer loaders and light construction equipment that replaces the tyre, rim and valve. Once mounted, there is no need to check air pressure, which significantly reduces tyre maintenance and downtime compared to traditional pneumatic tyres.
In addition to the Michelin X Tweel and earthmoving and truck tyres from the Michelin Compact Line range of products, the company will present Camso products on its stand. Michelin acquired the off-highway specialist in 2018 and today offers a portfolio of tyres, wheels, rubber tracks and sprockets for the construction industry, amongst others. The company states that these high-performance products are specifically designed to meet the unique mobility needs of each application in the off-highway vehicle market.
Trelleborg
Yokohama Rubber’s acquisition of Trelleborg Wheel Systems (TWS) was completed only a few weeks ago. The resulting company, Yokohama TWS, will make its first major trade fair appearance in the region at Steinexpo, presenting Trelleborg tyres alongside a range of services offered by subsidiary Interfit. Tyres on display include the EMR series – EMR1042, EMR1045, EMR1050 and EMR1051.
Yokohama TWS shares that this Trelleborg-branded range has been “developed for higher performance” and combines “durability with enhanced protection against tyre damage.” The EMR tread pattern is said to provide driving control and always perfect grip on various surfaces, such as sand, stones, gravel and earth. Yokohama TWS describes the radial casing as robust, with a state-of-the-art rubber compound for durability and very good ride comfort as well as low fuel consumption due to an even load distribution. All Trelleborg EMR tyres are retreadable.
Triangle
Triangle Tyre will appear at Steinexpo together with local partner Heuver and display a range of products, including the Triangle TB516 E3/L3 and TB598S E4/L4 for wheel loaders and ADTs in sizes 23.5R25 and 29.5R25. “The E3/L3 tread for muddy and soft terrain and the E4/L4 tread for rocky ground are highly versatile tyres with multi-directional, multi-purpose treads suitable for a wide range of applications, from loading to transport,” comments Triangle. The manufacturer also plans to introduce the TL578S E4/L4 and TL535S+ L5 treads – each with three-star casing – in size 35/65 R33.
