Bridgestone UK ambassadors Adam Peaty, Charlotte Worthington begin Olympic countdown
Bridgestone and its UK ambassadors have begun the countdown to the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a year from this week. Bridgestone is a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner for the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad Paris 2024, and launched its “Prepared to perform” campaign with five-time Olympic Games Swimming medallist Adam Peaty and Olympic Games Freestyle BMX gold medallist Charlotte Worthington. Bridgestone says the campaign aims to honour and highlight the diligence and determination of the elite athletes who make it to the Olympic Games.
Adam Peaty OBE defended his 100m breaststroke title at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, adding two gold and one silver medals to his Olympic medal tally, making him the first British Swimmer in history to defend an Olympic title. As Peaty continues to strive for success representing Team GB in the pool, he works with Bridgestone UK to reveal what his hard work, dedication and preparation entails, as he prepares for Paris 2024.
About his preparation, Peaty said: “Being prepared to perform is everything. Making sure you are consistent, making sure you work hard, and making sure you take every opportunity to push yourself is key, because at the Olympic Games you cannot rely on luck, you make that performance every day with the hard working and training.”
Charlotte Worthington MBE first competed at the Olympic Games at Tokyo 2020, coming home with the Olympic gold medal in the inaugural Women’s Cycling BMX Freestyle event. In doing so she became the first woman in history to land a 360-degree backflip in a competition, and today has her eye set on breaking a new record at Paris 2024.
Looking forward to Paris 2024, Worthington said: “I definitely feel more pressure going into Paris, but I try to remind myself that it is a perception, and I can switch it off. I learned so much competing as an Olympic Champion after the Olympics in Tokyo, and I am confident that when it comes to it, I will be prepared and ready to perform.”
Bridgestone committed to sport and the Olympic and Paralympic Games
Bridgestone says that its Paris 2024 partnership is not only about being associated with the power of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the world’s greatest event. It states it is committed to organizing Paris 2024 that are different, responsible and useful to all of society. Indeed, Bridgestone and the Olympic and Paralympic Games share common values through mobility, innovation and sustainability.
“Being a partner of Paris 2024 means taking part in an adventure that is unique in terms of its attractiveness and global influence. For Bridgestone, it is an opportunity to demonstrate its know-how and involve its employees and customers in a meaningful project. It is a unique opportunity to mobilize our company around sports, mobility and sustainability while taking action inspired by the Bridgestone E8 Commitment,” says Thierry Jupsin, VP brands marketing EMIA at Bridgestone.
