Triangle highlights segment-defying performance of EffeXSport range in Budapest
Triangle’s EffeXSport passenger car tyre range is not new to the market. The high-performance tyres were previewed at Tire Cologne in May 2022 and Triangle highlighted the initial line-up’s strong labelling performance in March 2023. However, Triangle’s EffeXSport event at the Hungaroring near Budapest, Hungary sought to offer key distributors and journalists the chance to “EffeXperience” the tyre’s performance when pushed to the limit.
Apart from the obvious attractions of hosting an event close to the banks of the Danube, the opportunity to put the EffeXSport range through its paces at a top-flight track such as the Hungaroring was an obvious draw for the Triangle.
Here, Triangle’s European leadership led by Corrado Moglia, CEO of Triangle Europe as well as product development director, Mirco Spiniella and marketing director Angelo Giannangeli were joined by Wang Dapeng technology, technical leader of PCR Design Department and executive vice-president of Triangle Tyre Co. Ltd’s Quality Management Center in China who actually developed the new tyre in conjunction with Tread managing director Ray Collier.
Details of the first wave of the EffeXSport product line-up were released at the end of the first quarter and explain that the initial range is made up of 54 sizes ranging from 16 to 20 inches. Those products were already available back in March. Moving forward, a further 50 sizes will be added by the end of the year. What we now know is that the overall range will be roughly 50 per cent A-rated and 50 per cent B-rated on the European tyre label.
However, as we all know, the European tyre label is just part of the story. And that’s why Triangle arranged relatively free access to the main Hungaroring track in order to experience the acceleration, dry braking and handling performance of EffeXSport tyres fitted to Alpine A110S, Mercedes AMG 45S, Mercedes AMG GLB 35, VW Golf R, BMW M3 135 and BMW M3 850i vehicles.
The goal was to demonstrate the tyre’s segment-defying performance. To find out more about the other demonstrations and for further details of the technology behind the tyre, see July’s edition of Tyres & Accessories.
