Spurs legends aplenty at Kumho five-a-side tournament
An annual five-a-side football tournament involving its customers and legends of the beautiful game is one of the many benefits of Kumho Tyre’s long-term partnership with Tottenham Hotspur. This year’s money-can’t-buy experience saw eight teams battling for glory at the Club’s Training Centre in Hotspur Way, with players travelling from across the UK and as far afield as the North of Scotland to participate.
On arrival, some of this year’s protagonists were treated to a tour of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium while others had opted for the Dare Skywalk, a steep, 90-minute climb which takes in the glass walkway that surrounds the Club’s iconic Cockerel statue at a breathtaking 46.8 metres above the pitch. Kumho’s guests then travelled to the Training Centre for the tournament under the tutelage of their appointed managers.
This year’s line-up of legends included Clive Allen, Paul Allen, Sébastien Bassong, Martin Chivers, Michael Dawson, David Howells, Ledley King and Graham Roberts. Also in attendance was the stadium announcer, Paul Coyte, who acted as MC, and popular club mascot, Chirpy. The final match was a fierce clash between Graham’s and Ledley’s charges, with the latter running out eventual winners.
“We are most grateful to the partnership team at Tottenham Hotspur for organising arguably the best of our tournaments to date,” said a Kumho spokesperson. “Having such footballing greats managing the teams is something our customers will never forget, and it is a privilege for us to be able to engage with them in this way.”
