Hankook sponsors EG Wholesale Charity Golf Day
Hankook Tyre UK partnered EG Wholesale, one of the ten members of independent tyre wholesaler Grouptyre, for its annual charity golf day at Goodwood Golf Club in West Sussex on 18 May 2023. Attending were 48 representatives from the tyre and motor industry in twelve teams of four, including two teams from Hankook’s UK operation. The tyre manufacturer presented each golfer with a sleeve of Titleist golf balls, golf tees, scorecard holder and baseball cap.
Tates Motor Group, a family run car dealership for more than one hundred years, won the competition with a team comprising finance manager Mark Thomas, business development manager Frank Wheatland, group body shop manager Anthony Wilcock, and sales manager James Hartshorn. Andrew Mitchell, sales manager at EG Wholesale presented the Hankook sponsored prize of four VIP hospitality tickets to a UEFA Europa League or Europa Conference League UK home game in the group stage of the 2023/24 season.
Mitchell commented: “This is the third year EG Wholesale has held a Charity Golf Day in partnership with Hankook Tyre UK and once again we were really thrilled with their support to make the day a great success. Funds raised at the event were donated to our charity of choice, the Mary How Trust, and we were delighted with the total of £1255.”
The Mary How Trust is based in Pulborough Sussex and was founded in June 1988 in memory of Mary How. The charity trust provides affordable health screening services to anyone in the UK to detect early signs of cancer, as well as screening for other health issues. Jason Parker, regional sales manager for Hankook, organised a chipping competition at the event which saw Steve Allen from EG Wholesale winning the Hankook golf bag and bundle. The £235 raised was donated to the Mary How Trust.
Ben Francis, UK PCR sales manager at Hankook added: “Hankook Tyre UK has been a major tyre supplier to EG Wholesale for 10 years and our continued sponsorship of this charity golf day illustrates our close business relationship with them. Although the Hankook teams did not play the best golf, the day itself was fantastic and enjoyed by all who attended, and all in support of the Mary How Trust Charity.”
