ETRMA calls for ‘sectoral regulation’ following Data Act agreement
The European Parliament and Member States have come to an agreement relating to the Data Act. The Data Act is legislation designed to make a competitive data market, opening opportunities for data-driven innovation. The European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) welcomed the agreement.
To ensure the development of the full European value chain of connected mobility services, the ETRMA believes that the Data Act “urgently needs to be complemented with sectoral regulation to provide clarity on how to implement the principles of the Data Act in the automotive sector”.
ETRMA also called on the European Commission to propose a regulation on “sector-specific provisions for accessing in-vehicle data, functions, and resources”.
According to the ETRMA, the Data Act will provide “a much-needed boost to digital service providers, in particular third-party suppliers, while putting the end-user at the heart of service delivery. It is crucial to the further development of smart and sustainable mobility”.
