Auto and tyre cross-border forum focuses on future development
On June 9, the 2023 Auto-Tyre Cross-border Development Summit Forum was held in Beijing. The theme of this forum is “Looking forward, responding to changes”. Representatives attending the meeting came from automobile manufacturers such as Chery, Great Wall Motor (GWM) and BAIC and tyre manufacturers such as Michelin, Maxxis, Triangle and Giti.
Tyrepress China noticed that some experts and scholars who participated in the meeting expounded their views on the tyre industry from the perspective of China’s auto industry. An Qingheng, the director of the China Automobile Industry Advisory Committee, said that manufacturing companies should focus on the “Dual Circulation” opportunities and consider both the Chinese and international markets. At the same time, new energy has become an essential part of the development of China’s automobile economy. Developing new energy vehicles has allowed domestic tyre companies to replace international brand tyres.
Dr Zhang Mingsen, the chief expert of Sinopec Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry, pointed out that the Chinese government has been paying close attention to the issue of automobile lightweight in recent years. Authorities hope this will reduce energy consumption and increase the range of electric vehicles.
In addition, a scholar pointed out that China’s chemical industry has reached an inflexion point of development due to the influence of a large scale and volume base, saturated market demand, and increased pressure on environmental protection. During the same period, China’s tyre industry was still significant but not substantial due to low-end overcapacity and high-end under-capacity.
Under the auspices of Yan Jianlai, Deputy Secretary-General of China-SAE, guests from the automobile and tyre industries had a roundtable discussion and discussed in depth how the automobile and tyre industries could develop collaboratively on topics such as internationalisation, green manufacturing, and intelligence.
Organised by the forum organiser, the delegates visited Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive (BFDA)’s heavy truck manufacturing base on June 10.
