A Guinness World Record with Sany & Sailun
Sailun tyres produced using EcoPoint³ technology have played a role in securing Sany Truck’s place in the Guinness World Records. A Sany Mota 1165 heavy-duty electric truck fitted with Sailun SFL1 tyres in size 12R22.5 18PR broke the record for the longest distance travelled by an electric semi-trailer truck on a single charge.
At an event organised by Sany Truck (China) on 28-29 May 2023 and with a Guinness World Record adjudicator on hand to verify the achievement, the vehicle covered a distance of 817.5 kilometres (508 miles) from Changsha, Hunan Province to Dongguan, Guangdong. The tractor unit was paired with a trailer weighing 23,820kg, giving the combined semi-trailer truck a weight of 40,580kg.
Sailun shares that the SFL1 EcoPoint³ tyres used for the record drive have a rolling resistance coefficient of approximately 3.9N/kN, facilitating a more than seven per cent reduction in vehicle energy consumption. “The tyres should last 300,000km (186,400 miles) while also providing a comfortable and quiet ride for the driver,” states the tyre maker. The China Rubber Industry Association has awarded these tyres its highest label rating of 3A.
The Sailun SFL1 range sold in China is recommended as a trailer fitment but is also suited to steer and drive axles. Sailun Group Europe also features the Sailun SFL1 on its website. This tyre features the same tread pattern as its Chinese market counterpart but is sold as a steer axle fitment in size 315/70 R22.5, with B label ratings for wet grip and rolling resistance.
