Sustainability & Performance: Sailun launches Atrezzo ZSR2
Sailun Group Europe has introduced several new tyres featuring its EcoPoint3 liquid-phase mixing technology. One of these products is the Sailun Atrezzo ZSR2, a tyre hailed by its manufacturer as the “ultimate combination of sustainability and performance.”
According to Sailun, the aim of Atrezzo ZSR2 is to provide mobility that’s more sustainable without sacrificing performance and high-level dynamics. The tyre maker adds that tread design and tyre structure are decisive factors here, elaborating that the tread and rubber compound not only ensure a long service life, but are energy-efficient, reduce fuel consumption and are designed for high levels of torque and above-average acceleration forces.
This results in low rolling resistance, while the Sailun Atrezzo ZSR2’s asymmetric tread pattern and EcoPoint3 rubber compound “ensure excellent grip on wet and dry roads, more optimal contact pressure, and first-class cornering and handling at high speeds.” Convex entry ribs and wide water drainage grooves are said to provide wet grip and aquaplaning resistance in rainy conditions. “Optimised tread blocks provide outstanding high-speed performance, a stiff centre rib for greater stability as well as better ground contact, and wide side grooves for easier water drainage,” adds Sailun.
According to Sailun, the maximised road contact patch on the Atrezzo ZSR2 outer shoulder contributes to improved dry grip and precise, sporty handling, while stress-relieving sipes and 3D grooves on the inside of the tread lead to improved ride comfort and low driving noise.
TÜV SÜD testing confirms performance
Summarising the various characteristics of Atrezzo ZSR2, Sailun states that the aforementioned benefits are “underlined by independent tests, such as those conducted by TÜV SÜD.” Testing conducted by TÜV SÜD in 2022 compared the Atrezzo ZSR2 (224/45 ZR17 94Y XL) against the Barum Bravuris 5 HM, Fulda Sportcontrol 2, Kleber Dynaxer UHP and Semperit Speed-Life 3. In these tests, the Atrezzo ZSR2 delivered better rolling resistance as well as handling and braking performance in wet and dry conditions.
What’s more, Sailun points out that the resistance of the tread showed a clean and even abrasion pattern even after heavy use. “In all aspects, the Atrezzo ZSR2 showed superior performance compared to its premium competitors. In addition, the new Sailun ultra-high-performance tyre impresses in independent tests with its perfect price-performance ratio.”
“We are very pleased that the reliability and energy efficiency of our new tyre generation have been positively received by international tyre experts and tyre testers worldwide right from the start,” says Gareth Passmore, Sailun’s senior vice-president car and truck Europe.
Atrezzo ZSR2 is available in sizes for 17- to 20-inch rims, 205 – 275mm tyre widths, 30 – 55 cross sections and speed ratings W and Y.
Atrezzo ZSR2 EV
Sailun Atrezzo ZSR2 EV is the latest addition to the ZSR range, designed specifically for electric and hybrid vehicles.
According to the manufacturer, the ultra-high-performance tyre utilises EcoPoint3 technology to impress with its “exceptionally low rolling resistance” while offering “high driving dynamics characterised by excellent grip, precise steering response, short braking distances in dry and wet conditions, and very high safety during swerving and braking.”
Stephan Cimbal, Sailun Europe’s director of marketing, explains: “The EV success formula includes: less rolling resistance means less power consumption per kilometre and thus directly more range. This makes the ZSR2 EV ideal for high-performance EVs in particular.” In addition, the tyre casing is reinforced to cope with the immediate and high torque of electric vehicles and at the same time improves noise damping and thus driving comfort.
Sailun is offering the ZSR2 EV in dimensions for 17- and 18-inch rims, 205 – 255 mm tyre widths, cross section 45 and speed ratings W and Y.
