Sentury Tire registers business in Morocco

On 27 April 2023, Qingdao Sentury Tire officially registered its planned new tyre production and sales operation, Sentury Tire Morocco. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sentury (Hong Kong) Trading Co., Ltd. With an investment of US$296.78 million, Sentury Tire intends to set up a plant in Tangiers with the capacity to manufacture 6 million car and light truck tyres annually.

Announcing the registration of Sentury Tire Morocco, the tyre maker observes that its plants in China and Thailand can “no longer meet the needs of customers” in light of increasing orders. According to the company, the plant in Qingdao, China has an annual capacity for 12 million PCR tyres and the facility in Rayong, Thailand can produce 10 million tyres a year. Sentury Tire also comments that it selected Morocco as the location for its new factory as it offers a “stable political and economic environment, excellent geographical location, favourable investment conditions and convenient approval process, friendly foreign trade policy and low investment cost.”
