Nokian introduces 9.00-20 Armor Gard 2 Mine tyre
Announcing the arrival of a new size 9.00-20 tyre, Nokian Tyres states that its Armor Gard 2 Mine “provides exceptional cut resistance, superb handling, and a prolonged service life,” making it an “ideal choice for drill rigs operating in demanding mining environments.” The 9.00-20 tyre joins a 10.00-20 size product in the range.
“Nokian Tyres Armor Gard 2 Mine has already proven its value among its customers,” comments Kimmo Kekki, a global product manager at Nokian Heavy Tyres. “And we are excited to introduce this new size as now more and more mining workers get to feel safe while working efficiently. It’s just an overall smoother experience with these tires on your vehicle.”
Drill deeper – safe and sound
Underground mining places specific demands upon tyres, with sharp rocks increasing the risk of tyre damage and slippery stones demanding huge levels of grip. Tight and difficult to navigate spaces can only be effectively negotiated by compact machines.
Even in light of these extra high safety demands, the Finnish tyre maker says Nokian Tyres Armor Gard 2 Mine “ticks all the boxes.” Kekki comments that “these are the tyres one can rely on even in the most challenging underground conditions.”
Protection against underground threats
Compared to the prior generation of Armor Gard tyres, Armor Gard 2 Mine is vertically 25 per cent stiffer and has 12 per cent more tread rubber. The tread is wider than before, which lowers the contact pressure and makes the tyre more hard-wearing.
The insert windows maximise tyre cooling and casing durability. Furthermore, improvements to the Nokian Tyres Armor Gard 2 Mine inner liner maximise tube durability and improve tyre quality.
Furthermore, the tyre itself is reshaped to be more “rectangular” than before, which according to Nokian Tyres increases stability by up to 25 per cent compared to the previous model. “These improvements over the already well-established product add up, making these tyres the ones to drill deeper with,” comments the manufacturer. Kekki adds: “Throw in the precise handling, and you can say these tyres are well equipped to tackle any threat underground mine sites hold.”
