Kama Tyres turns 50
On 29 April, Kama Tyres celebrated 50 years of tyre-related production. On that day in 1973, Nizhnekamsk tyre factory produced its first inner tube for 6.15 x 13 tyres destined for fitment on Zhiguli (Lada) cars.
Commemorating the milestone, the company thanked “everyone who has worked and is working at Kama Tyres.” It added: “Special thanks go to the tyre industry veterans who have laid and strengthened the foundations of our success.”
Today, Kama Tyres consists of nine enterprises, including its own R&D centre, and offers 130 car, light commercial, truck, agricultural and ATV tyre models across five brands. The company claims to produce 29 per cent of all tyres made in Russia in addition to exporting to some 37 countries. Availability in European markets has been limited since 2022.
