GB Tyres constructing “one of the largest stockholdings in Europe” with new Oldbury site
Fast-growing tyre wholesaler, GB Tyres, has begun construction of its new Oldbury tyre “storage and distribution facility”. As we reported back in September 2022, despite existing storage space of roughly 250,000 square feet across two large sites in the midlands the business requires much more space.
The new facility will more than double the existing storage capacity in Oldbury, bringing the business to a total of 350,000 square feet at this location alone. Combined with existing storage in Tipton the business reaches 450,000 square feet of total tyre storage capacity. Building work is said to be “progressing at quite a rate”.
Oldbury will also incorporate new office space and customer hospitality areas and will become the business’s official head office once completed in 2024. The existing warehouse in Oldbury will also undergo a significant refurbishment in order to update the facility and gain storage as well as logistics efficiencies.
The goal is to have “one of the largest stockholdings in Europe” once work is complete. And that means stocks in the region of 550,000 passenger car tyres, 90,000 truck tyres and 3,500 agricultural and OTR tyres.
Sukhi Singh, GB Tyres managing director commented: “We are very excited to share news of this new facility with everything now rubber-stamped and building work already in progress. It will allow us to further improve the service and range of quality products we can provide to our valued customers. I look forward to welcoming our selected partners and our customers to the new site.”
