First Toyo Serbia tyres arrive in the UK
Five months after the opening its new tyre factory in the Municipality of Indjija, Toyo first Serbia-made tyres have arrived in the UK. Aboard this historic shipment are the Proxes Comfort, the passenger and eco car-targeted offering from the Proxes range.
Newly appointed Toyo Tyre (UK) Ltd. managing director Colin Pears commented: “This is a sizeable stepping-stone in our history as it signifies the fruition of our plans to reduce lead times on supply to our UK customers”.
DHL, who facilitates Toyo’s logistics in the UK from their warehouse operation in Leicestershire, also welcomed this first shipment which helps cement the ongoing working relationship which has spanned over 14 years.
Jim Marsh, operations director, DHL Supply Chain said: “DHL supply chain are happy and delighted to continually provide support to Toyo UK’s operation and are proud to welcome in this significant first shipment from the new Serbia plant.”
The new site in Serbia boasts “world class technology…and one of the biggest solar power plants in Serbia”, according to the company.
Located right next to the site is a proving ground with a 720 metres track which will be utilised to carry out test runs to gather data for research and development. This will help eliminate time delays in meeting regulations and therefore deliver tyres to the market in a more seamless way.
