Doublestar breaks ground at Cambodia plant site
On 9 May, Doublestar Tire broke ground for its new factory in Cambodia. Doublestar (Cambodia), a joint venture with UBE Development Co. Ltd., aims to meet growing international demand for high-performance radial tyres. The 400,000 square metre plant will have capacities to produce 7 million PCR tyres and 1.5 million TBR tyres annually. Numerous regional and company dignitaries attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including Va Thorn, Governor of Kratie Province, Chai Yongsen, Doublestar Group Chairman and Zhang Qirong, Chairman of Zhongqi Group.
Doublestar has an 80 per cent stake in the project, with industrial park developer UBE Development Co Ltd, holding the rest. With the new factory, Doublestar intends to leverage economies of scale and advanced equipment to enhance its competitiveness in the global tyre market, focusing on Europe, America, and ASEAN regions.
