Double podium success for TerraClean-sponsored Colin Turkington
TerraClean-sponsored British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) ace Colin Turkington took two podium finishes at the latest round of the championship at Snetterton.
In hot conditions, Turkington played tyre strategy to his advantage, also capitalising on a strong qualifying performance on Saturday that resulted in the four-time champion starting Sunday’s first race third on the grid.
In race one, Turkington mastered the warm conditions to get his BMW’s soft tyres up to temperature quickly, battling with BMW team mate Jake Hill, and in the late stages of the race reigning champion Tom Ingram, to snap up the final podium spot.
Race two saw a podium repeat of race one, with Turkington managing tyre wear on his medium compound rubber to finish third, again following home race winner Ash Sutton and runner-up Jake Hill.
Colin Turkington said: “Any weekend where you’re on the podium twice gives you a fair bit to celebrate, and I think we pretty much achieved the maximum possible to be scoring well on all three tyre compounds. A job well done!”
Turkington’s strong showing at Snetterton means he now occupies third in the championship on 109 points. The next round of the BTCC is at Thruxton, from 3rd-4th June.
