Richard Lyons becomes Kumho Tyre UK MD
At the start of April, Richard Lyons became executive managing director of Kumho Tyre UK. Lyons joins the company after roughly seven years with Trelleborg Wheel Systems in a variety of roles, latterly as managing director UK and Ireland. Before that, Lyons spent around 11 years with Giti where he oversaw significant growth at the company and rose to the role of managing director Europe and director – International sales and marketing, passenger car.
After a significant period of time with Trelleborg in the industrial and off-highway tyre segments, Lyons’s move back to passenger car and commercial vehicle tyres with Kumho represents something of a return to home territory. Indeed, the appointment can be seen as an opportunity to breathe new life into sales and marketing of the well-known Kumho brand in the UK.
Of course, Lyons has only just arrived at the company, but already there is talk of making Kumho the easiest company to do business with. Specific steps towards this goal include: appointing new sales, marketing and operations personnel, diversification of sales and distribution channels and the refurbishment of the company’s Rugby, UK and Ireland headquarters. Tyres & Accessories spoke with the newly-appointed executive managing director in order to get the details on those points and more.
