New Trelleborg CX940 port tyre
Trelleborg Wheel Systems has introduced a new tyre for equipment such as reach stackers, straddle carriers and top picks. Describing the Trelleborg CX940 as a tyre “made for maximum resistance in handling high-intensity jobs in busy ports and harbours, inland ports and industries such as steel mills the world over,” the manufacturer reports that it “brings greater stability and comfort to operators” and has a “unique wear-resistant compound” that helps protect the tyre from wear and tear during extended high-intensity applications.
“Today’s ports are logistic nerve centres for millions of products going to and from countries more than ever before,” states Chiara Cianci, product marketing manager Material Handling at Trelleborg Wheel Systems. “Large ships are carrying an increased number of larger containers where loading and unloading require speed and precision. Our new CX940 tyre is made for stress and endurance. Its robust casing and optimised tread design mean less downtime and more efficient machines, which adds up to huge savings in highly busy ports.”
An extra-wide tread enables CX940 to increase operator comfort and provide better resistance when carrying high-intensity loads, says Trelleborg Wheel Systems. The manufacturer adds that CX940 reduces heat generation even at high speeds, while its reinforced bead construction permits the operator to make hard turns in tight areas, putting far less stress on the tyre.
“The CX940 is our answer to modern port operators who demand greater resistance and longevity during long, hard days so operators can concentrate on swiftly moving merchandise. With our Trelleborg tyres, they can get to work knowing their tyres will support their every manoeuvre,” concludes Cianci.
