Metzeler becomes Official Tyre of Isle of Man TT
The Metzeler tyre brand has entered into a long-term deal to be the sole Official Tyre of the Isle of Man TT Races from 2023 until 2027, building on a supply relationship with several leading riders in prior years that is set to continue in 2023 with John McGuinness MBE, Dean Harrison, James Hillier, Lee Johnston, Jamie Coward and David Johnson riding on Metzeler tyres.
Metzeler’s new status as Official Tyre accompanies a change of regulations allowing slick tyres in all solo classes from TT 2023, and the brand will offer riders its Metzeler Racetec RR tyres. As part of the tyre category exclusive sponsorship, Metzeler will benefit from a prominent race service location in the race paddock. The sponsorship inventory also includes trackside branding on the Mountain Course and exposure through the TT’s rapidly growing digital and social media channels.
A welcome addition
“Metzeler are a welcome addition to the line-up of official sponsor brands for this year’s Isle of Man TT Races,” says Paul Phillips, head of motorsport – Isle of Man Department for Enterprise. “Our commercial objective is to work collaboratively to add value to the TT experience for everyone involved in the event. Metzeler is already integrally associated with the TT and is the tyre of choice for many teams competing in the event, with a proven performance track record. We are sure that this will be a successful relationship that will grow in strength over the years to come.”
“The Isle of Man TT is one of the oldest and best-known motorcycle races in the world and has a unique and timeless appeal,” Francesco Pietrangeli, motorcycle marketing director Metzeler brand. “Metzeler tyres have been involved in Road Racing for some time and over the years has contributed to the successes of many riders by supporting them and making our Racetec RR tyres available to them. We are very delighted with the agreement which represents the natural evolution of our commitment to road racing and it is also the best way to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the birth of our brand.”
