Five tyre factories on Chinese government green list
On 24 March, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed its 2022 Green Manufacturing List. Tyrepress China noted that the list of green factories includes five tyre manufacturers, namely Jinyu Tires, Triangle, Zodo Tire, Doublestar Dongfeng, and Sailun. Among them, Doublestar Dongfeng is the manufacturing base of Doublestar, located in Shiyan, Hubei.
Meanwhile, nine tyres from Jiangsu General, Doublestar, Sentury and Sailun were rated green products.
In recent years, green manufacturing has been a term frequently mentioned by the Chinese government, and it is also one of the directions for transforming China’s manufacturing industry. In China’s official concept, a green factory must meet the following conditions: intensive land use, harmless raw materials, clean production, recycling of waste, and low-carbon energy. Green products need to conform to the concept of the whole life cycle and systematically consider the impact of raw material selection, production, sales, use, recycling, and disposal on the resource environment during the product design and development stage, and reduce the generation and emission of pollutants.
For tyre products, green means the disposal of waste tyres. In China, waste tyres are classified as solid waste. Tyrepress China noticed that tyre manufacturers, including ZC Rubber, Linglong, and Doublestar, have started the waste tyre processing industry. For example, in December 2022, the Linglong Anhui manufacturing base announced that it was preparing to launch a 30,000-ton waste tyre recycling project.
