Aeolus now supplying 63-inch tyres to OTR market
Aeolus’s first batch of 63-inch OTR tyres was shipped from the company’s Jiaozuo manufacturing base on 11 March. The specification model of this batch of tyres is 59/80R63. Aeolus said that these giant tyres were sent to key overseas markets. The manufacturer said that a giant tyre weighs nearly 6 tons with a diameter for more than 4 metres and is mainly used for mining dump trucks, around 400 tons.
Aeolus’s first 63-inch tyre rolled off the production line at the Jiaozuo factory in October 2022. Six months later, the firm was able to confirm that it is now able to supply 63-inch tyres to the market. Aeolus revealed it had conducted indoor performance tests on 63-inch tyres for two months, confirming that the products meet various design indicators. In addition, the company said it has obtained real vehicle test qualifications in many mines worldwide.
In the field of OTR tyres, the larger the tyre size, the more technologies required, and the higher the entry threshold. Among Chinese tyre manufacturers besides Aeolus, only Triangle can produce 63-inch giant OTR tyres. Aeolus labelled its project to build 63-inch tyres “8848” after the height of Mount Everest, symbolising neatly the scale of the challenge and proof of ambition such products represent.
Despite various market headwinds, several Chinese tyre manufacturers have shown great interest in OTR tyres. After the Tianjin United Tire & Rubber International Co (TUTRIC) acquisition, ZC Rubber invested heavily in its expansion. The new manufacturing projects relating to Sailun, Linglong, Guizhou Tyre and Xuzhou Armour Rubber all involve OTR tyres.
