Yokohama launches Geolandar A/T XD in North America and Australia
During March, The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., “gradually” launched sales of the new Geolandar A/T XD all-terrain pickup truck tyre in North America and Australia. The Geolandar A/T XD is initially coming out in a range of 16, 17, 18 and 20-inch sizes.
According to Yokohama, the new tyre is “able to withstand the harsh conditions and environments in which commercial vehicles used in mining and agricultural work are operated.” The tyre’s development focused on improving its durability to enhance drivability in the roughest conditions, including offroad and on snow…” To that end, the tyre has received the “Three-Peak Mountain SnowFlake” symbol.
In addition to the all-terrain Geolandar A/T XD, the Geolandar range includes the Geolandar A/T G015, a standard tyre suitable for use in on- and off-road driving, and the Geolandar X-AT, a tyre developed to meet the needs of drivers who want to tune and dress up their vehicles for off-road driving.
The latest launch is part of Yokohama’s wider strategy, which focuses on high-value tyre lines including 4×4 and SUV products. With that in mind, executives report that they are “focusing on expanding sales of Geolandar tyres” and plan to “launch several new additions to the brand line-up in the third quarter and expand the available sizes of existing tyres.”
Yokohama Rubber is also “enhancing its presence in the North American market, where its Geolandar tyres are now original equipment on Toyota Motor Corporation’s new Tundra full-size pickup truck and its new Sequoia full-size SUV.
