Michelin extends lead over Bridgestone in Brand Finance Global 500 ranking
The complete data isn’t out, but a preview of the Brand Finance Global 500 gives a clear insight into what we can expert from the market research company’s tyre ranking when in is published in the coming weeks. The headline news is that Michelin has significantly extended its lead at the front of the pack when it comes to tyre brands.
The data comes from the Brand Finance Global Top 500 2023, which was published in January and goes across all business sectors. The Top 500 doesn’t go into much detail, but what it does reveal is the relative position of Michelin and Bridgestone.
This year Michelin was awarded 277th, down seven places form 270th last year. And Bridgestone came in at 324th, down 33 places compared with 2022. Not only does that represent something of a decline on both counts, it also shows a widening of the gap between Michelin and Bridgestone. Indeed, the gap between the top two is now the widest is has been for at least six years (see below table).
Still, Michelin and Bridgestone were the only tyre brands to make it into the top 500 so appearing on this prestigious ranking remains something of an achievement in itself.
