Higgins to head Bridgestone’s tyre industry projects
As of today, Thomas J. Higgins is “Responsible for Global Tire Industry Projects” at Bridgestone Corporation. He takes on this role in addition to his positions as the company’s global chief business strategic officer, vice chair of the Board at Bridgestone Americas and Supervisory Board chair at Bridgestone EMIA.
Higgins’ appointment follows recent talk at Bridgestone about plans for the coming years. In February the company shared details of its New Premium strategy, and during motorsport 60th anniversary celebrations earlier this month global chief executive officer Shu Ishibashi shared an intention to “return to our origin as a tyre manufacturer and restart our global journey for excellence.”
While picking up a role, Higgins also lets one go, as Bridgestone shares that he is no longer responsible for the company’s G Business Strategy.
Prior to accepting his current global roles, Higgins was group president of Bridgestone Americas’ Americas Tire Business, responsible for leading all sales-related activities across the company’s consumer and commercial tyre businesses. He joined Bridgestone Americas in 2014 as president of the Consumer Integrated Tire Group, and also oversaw Bridgestone Retail Operations and the Bridgestone consumer credit lending business, Credit First National Association.
