BYD Atto 3 SUV fitted with Continental OE tyres

BYD, one of the biggest electric vehicle manufacturers in China and indeed the world, has awarded a global OE tyre supply contract for its Atto 3 SUV to Continental, which was launched in the UK in March. Continental will now supply 235/50 R18 101V XL EcoContact 6 Q tyres designed to offer quiet and economical performance to numerous markets around the world.

According to Continental, the EcoContact 6 Q tyres feature a special rubber compound that minimizes energy absorption while the vehicle is in motion and, in turn, reduces friction and rolling resistance. Continental’s developers also report improvements in the tyre’s tread helping to reduce rolling noise. In addition to shorter braking distances, the tyre is designed to offer “exceptional grip on dry and wet roads and excellent cornering stability even at high speeds”.
