Yokohama Geolandar mud-terrain tyres supplied to King of the Hammers
Yokohama is supplying its Geolandar M/T G003 tyres for SUVs and pickup trucks to more than 30 teams at the annual King of the Hammers off-road race in California (4–11 February). The manufacturer is providing a mix of its Geolandar M/T G003 and a special race version based on that tyre. The King of the Hammers is the Ultra4 National Series racing tour season-opener. The series combines desert racing and rock crawling and is considered the one of the toughest off-road races in the world. Yokohama tyres will be used in all four-wheel class races over the week-long event.
Race-version Geolandar M/T G003 tyres are being supplied to veteran Levi Shirley and father and son team Brian and Chayse Caprara competing in the Unlimited 4400 class. All other drivers are being supplied with production specification Geolandar M/T G003 tyres available on the replacement market.
The Geolandar M/T G003 delivers superior performance and a long lifespan for all off-road surfaces. The tyre has a sturdy, aggressive tread design. The Geolandar series is race-proven with many years of participation in various off-road events around the world. In 2022, the Asia Cross Country Rally 2022, the continent’s largest cross-country rally, was won on Yokohama rubber. In North America, Yokohama Geolandar shod teams won class championships at the 35th Score San Felipe 250 in Mexico and the Method Race Wheels “Casey Folks” Vegas to Reno, part of the 2022 Best In The Desert series.
Yokohama sees participation in series from top-level to grassroots as a key part of its strategy, with motorsport used to develop new tyre technologies fed into its top value-added Advan and Geolandar tyre ranges.
