Prometeon extends WorldSBK engagement with Yamaha team sponsorship
It may not produce motorcycle tyres, but Prometeon Tyre Group benefits from the exposure the Pirelli brand gains as top sponsor and tyre supplier to the World Superbike championship (WorldSBK). Prometeon also took on WorldSBK official sponsorship in April 2022 and now seeks to further raise its profile amongst those who enjoy riding fast on two wheels by becoming co-title sponsor of the Yamaha WorldSBK team.
Sponsorship of what is now known as Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK gives the brand a presence on team bikes, which gain a new livery in 2023. The brand will also be present on rider attire and on the trucks that transport equipment to and from circuits, as well as on official team communications. Prometeon views this new engagement as a “strategic partnership” and anticipates it will “provide greater visibility to the corporate brand and offer ever-more exclusive customer experiences.”
Shared values
“The agreement with which we become co-title partner of the official Yamaha WorldSBK Team reflects the natural evolution of Prometeon’s commitment to the World Championship for production-based motorbikes, which began in 2022 with the official sponsorship of the championship,” states Roberto Righi, general manager of Prometeon Tyre Group. “With WorldSBK we share the values of innovation, technology and the pursuit of maximum performance. We also believe that this partnership, in addition to further boosting the visibility of our corporate brand, will allow us to offer even more exclusive and engaging experiences to our business partners and collaborators.”
With 14 races won in 2022 and second place in the Manufacturers’ Championship, Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK is one of the top teams in its category. Riding one of the two official Yamaha R1 bikes this season will be 2021 WorldSBK Champion and 2022 runner-up Toprak Razgatlioglu, who Prometeon also sponsors individually. Razgatlioglu competes alongside Italian Andrea Locatelli, the third year the two riders have been teammates.
The championship begins on 24 February in Australia and runs over 12 rounds at various circuits around the world. Prometeon comments that the international nature of WorldSBK was a “decisive element” in its decision to invest in this championship, given that the group manufactures its tyres on three continents and markets them in over 150 different countries.
