Lists recognise Pirelli’s sustainability focus
Pirelli & C. SpA has secured a spot on the CDP Climate A list 2022, the fifth consecutive year it has done so. The company was also recently included in the Top 1%, the highest level of recognition within S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook 2023.
After evaluating how effectively more than 18,700 corporate participants implemented actions to reduce emissions and climate risks whilst developing a low carbon emissions economy and adopting environmental best practices, CDP awarded just 294 firms an ‘A’ rating – including Pirelli. The tyre maker says this recognition “confirms Pirelli’s constant commitment in the area of environmental sustainability.”
“Being recognised as a leader in the fight against climate change by CDP is a source of satisfaction for all Pirelli and is proof of the concrete nature of our actions in favour of environmental sustainability,” says Marco Tronchetti Provera, executive vice chairman and chief executive officer of Pirelli. “It is an important result which drives Pirelli to set for itself always more challenging targets for the protection of the environment.”
Top 1% in sustainability yearbook
Pirelli’s Top 1% result follows the score it achieved in the 2022 Corporate Sustainability Assessment of S&P Global’s Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, in which the company obtained the Top Score of 86 points (revised from the original 85), the highest of the ATX Auto Components sector in the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe Indices.
“We are proud to be reconfirmed as a Top ESG Performer in the Sustainability Yearbook 2023,” continues Troncheti Provera. “This recognises the engagement of everyone who works at Pirelli in transforming our sustainability strategy into tangible results, challenging ourselves continuously to maximise sustainable and shared value creation.”
