Auto Bild advises against 10 tyres
Congratulations to Hankook for its table-topping performance during the preliminary wet and dry braking component of Auto Bild’s 2023 summer tyre test, and well done to the other 19 finalists whose performance also qualified them to take part in the second and main round of testing. But what about the 30 tyres that didn’t make the grade – how well or poorly did they perform?
Auto Bild has published the stopping distances for these tyres as well, and the figures speak for themselves. Hard luck to the Ceat SportDrive, whose combined wet and dry braking distance was only 6.1 metres more than the first-placed Hankook Ventus S1 Evo³ and as such a whisker too long for round two. And it was just one of a number of other tyres outside the top 20 that are still worth considering when looking at price/performance ratio.
But while some of the disqualified contenders delivered decent performances, the same can’t be said for those occupying the nether regions of the table. Auto Bild’s testers “expressly advise against the ten tyres at the bottom of the table.”
