Nokian Tyres adds L-5S fitment to HTS G2 harbour range
In a busy terminal, tyre stability and long service life are key factors in ensuring operational safety and efficiency for reach stackers, forklifts and log stackers. Nokian Tyres says it developed the HTS G2 harbour tyre family for this purpose, adding that this range’s “excellent stability, good grip and predictable service life has been impressing users for years.” The scope to impress has now grown with the arrival of a new HTS G2 family member. As of 17 January, the Nokian Tyres HTS G2 L5-S, a fitment intended for use on reach stacker front axles, is available in size 18.00-25.
Announcing its launch, Nokian Tyres comments that the HTS G2 L-5S in 18.00-25 is “made for long, busy working days on grinding tarmac or concrete.” Kimmo Kekki, product manager at Nokian Tyres, adds that when fitted to the front axle of a heavy reach stacker, the tyre’s “smooth, extra-deep slow-wearing tread” lasts up to 35 per cent longer than that of the previous comparable Nokian tyre, depending on location and application. “Add the stable, steady handling, high load-bearing capacity, and excellent puncture resistance to the package, and you have a real efficiency booster in your hands.”
Advanced tyre engineering
Addressing the key areas of stability and loadbearing capacity, Kekki comments that Nokian Tyres paid “particular attention” to the tyre flexing area, elaborating that this “benefits from our special shock-absorbing rubber compound used in the tyre carcass.” All HTS G2 tyres use cross-ply technology, which according to Kekki has “now been further developed for the benefit of the new tyre.”
Optimised cost per hour
The Nokian Tyres HTS G2 L-5S is designed specifically for front axle fitment. This enables the use of even thicker tread than the previous L-4S models, resulting in a longer service life. Nokian says the rubber compound, which has “already proven its value in previous models,” wears slowly and resists puncture damage, preventing unexpected downtime.
“It all comes down to the cost per hour”, Kimmo Kekki says. “Longer tyre life means lower cost of ownership, which helps to keep the operation competitive.”
Safety & sustainability
In addition to optimised cost per hour, Nokian Tyres points out that premium harbour tyres with excellent handling properties can improve an entire operation’s working safety and sustainability.
“The longer the tyre tread lasts, the more efficiently the entire tyre will be utilised, resulting in less waste,” says Kekki. “What’s more, the entire Nokian Tyres manufacturing process is optimised for efficient use of energy and materials.”
Designed & made in Finland
All Nokian Tyres harbour tyres are designed and manufactured at the company’s plant in Nokia, Finland and carry the ‘Design From Finland’ and ‘Key Flag‘ symbols granted by the Association for Finnish Work. These symbols demonstrate that the products are designed and made in Finland, with a minimum local content.
