EU extends duties on aluminium wheels from China
On 19 January, the European Commission extended anti-dumping duties on aluminium road wheels from China for a further five years. The extension follows an expiry review investigation, which showed that these wheels continue to be dumped on the EU market and that industry within the European Union – which employs 17,000 people – would suffer significant harm if the measures were allowed to lapse.
The duties on aluminium road wheels from China remain at 22.3 per cent. The European Commission states that these duties “continue to ensure fair competitive conditions on the EU market between imports from China and domestic production.” As such, they have been complemented by anti-dumping duties of between 9 to 17.5 per cent on aluminium road wheels from Morocco, which had been provisionally in force since 15 July 2022 and were confirmed on 12 January 2023.
