BMW X1 wearing Continental EcoContact 6Q tyres
Continental has received original equipment approvals for the new BMW X1 compact SUV and is supplying EcoContact 6 Q tyres in 18- to 20-inch sizes. Owners looking for a dedicated winter fitment can also obtain the WinterContact TS 860 S from BMW dealerships.
Sharing some details about its latest BMW OE tyre, Continental says it developed the EcoContact 6 Q to “support highly economical driving, whatever your vehicle’s drive type.” This is achieved thanks to a special rubber compound that reduces energy absorption through the tyre while the vehicle is in motion, which, in turn, reduces friction. In addition, Continental has optimised the tyre tread and so further reduced rolling noise. The tyre maker further states that EcoContact 6 Q is also characterised by its exceptionally long service life and outstanding handling.
Nexen Tire also recently announced that the BMW X1 was being equipped with its tyres, in this case the Nexen N’Fera Sport.
WinterContact TS 860 S for the winter months

Continental shares that the development of this winter tyre was aimed at ensuring precise handling on dry roads and outstanding handling characteristics in the snow.
