Toyo Tires alters Chinese brand name
On November 29, Toyo Tires issued a notice on its official Chinese website saying it will resume using the old Chinese brand name in the mainland market from 1 December. Both the old and new brand names are the Chinese translation of “Toyo Tires”. Toyo previously used this brand name in the Chinese market before 2015, subsequently changing its name to use the Chinese pronunciation of Toyo Tires to determine the new version of the brand and the company name.
After 1 December, the Chinese brand name of Toyo Tires returned to the original version. It is reported that since then, the tyre company’s various promotional items, image store related, and tyre labels have all been presented under the new brand name. For this change, the explanation given by the tyre manufacturer is “market and business development need to enhance brand awareness”. Toyo Tires has two factories in China, in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu and Zhucheng, Shandong.
The company’s name and remittance account number remain unchanged. In other words, the company name of Toyo Tires in China remains the name transliterated since 2015.
