Marubeni partners, invests in Galileo Wheel
Israel’s Galileo Wheel Ltd., the firm behind the CupWheel tyre, and Japanese trading firm Marubeni Corporation have entered into a strategic partnership. As part of this partnership, Galileo reports that Marubeni has become a “significant stakeholder.” Marubeni will utilise its global sales and marketing network and become the distributor of CupWheel tyres in multiple geographic markets.
Announcing the partnership, Marubeni notes that Galileo has already begun selling tyres suited for use with centre pivot irrigation machinery. It adds that the Israeli firm also plans to sell tyres for skid steer loaders and small construction machinery, while primarily expanding sales for agricultural and construction machinery.
“Galileo tyres have already been highly evaluated in the market, and demand for airless tyres that require less maintenance is expected to increase with the advancement of autonomous driving for the future,” states Marubeni. “Utilising its global sales and marketing network, Marubeni will support the sales of the airless tyres developed by Galileo.”
Marubeni expresses a desire to utilise its strengths to “help society to overcome challenges through original innovations,” and considers this aim “at the heart of Marubeni’s core values.” It thus intends to support Galileo CupWheel technology with its resources and propagate the technology globally.
Advantages of tyre & track
Galileo Wheel is the creator of the CupWheel, a technology combining the advantages of radial off-road tyres and rubber tracks on a standard rim. CupWheel technology is associated with lower costs, increased yield and ease of use in agricultural, construction and industrial applications. The design and inner sidewall construction extends tread life, while self-cleaning properties optimises grip and productivity. It can also be driven at zero bar air pressure (integrated run-flat capability), meaning that machinery can continue to be used even in the event of a puncture.
“We see the immense strategic potential of this move,” states Alon Hayka, managing director of Galileo Wheel. “The partnership has already led to progression through Marubeni’s vast commercial network. We appreciate Marubeni’s support that derives from the understanding of scale of which our technology is a pioneer in the industry. Galileo is honoured to become partners of Marubeni, one of the leading trade-houses in Japan, which is constantly striving for innovation and excellency in the market.”
