New 20” wheel for 19MY+ Defender

Off-road performance and rally specialist Bowler Motors has introduced a new wheel for the latest generation Land Rover Defender. Introducing the 20” Challenge Performance Wheel, Bowler points out that it was developed by the same engineering team that introduced the 2022 Bowler Rally Car and builds on the inherent toughness and capability of Defender.

Created to be up to 30 per cent stronger, the new Challenge wheel has been developed specifically to withstand the arduous conditions of off-road motorsport. The 20” Challenge Performance Wheel is engineered primarily for lightweight stiffness and durability whilst retaining Bowler’s design vision. Fully TÜV-approved, the wheels are available in Gloss Black and Anthracite to complement Defender body colours.

Rigorous testing

“The new 20” Challenge wheel is a real performance product, with its 18” counterpart being tested rigorously through 2022 as part of the Defender Challenge,” comments Rob Cooney, Bowler Motors’ commercial manager. “We have seen these wheels driven literally miles without tyres and still be serviceable. The Bowler Motors team also recognised the strong aesthetic quality of Land Rovers latest generation Defender, and the objective was to design something in keeping with this. With a 30 per cent increase in strength over standard the new Challenge wheels are a true performance addition to any Defender.”

Official photos show the 20” wheel paired with BFGoodrich tyres, but Bowler says it can recommend a range of tyres to complement the new wheel and user requirements. Bowler also offers the option for fitment at its workshop in Derbyshire. The 20” wheel is also designed as an upgrade for the Bulldog Rally Car, and an 18” version of the wheel is available.
