Higashi named chairman of Bridgestone Asia Pacific

Masahiro Higashi, the Bridgestone Corporation chief operating officer with responsibility for the company’s business in Japan and its Bridgestone Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (BSCAP) business unit, will from 1 January 2023 additionally take on chairmanship of BSCAP. He will also become chairman of Bridgestone Cycle Co., Ltd. at the start of next year, and remain chairman of Bridgestone Tire Solution Japan Co., Ltd.

Higashi takes on this role within BSCAP as Yoshikazu Shida’s secondment to the Asia Pacific regional business unit comes to an end. Shida succeeded Gabriel Asbun as chief executive officer and chief operating officer of Bridgestone Asia Pacific in 2020, a remit he conducted alongside his role as chief executive officer and chairman of Bridgestone (China) Investment Co., Ltd. he will relinquish both positions as of 1 January 2023 to become chair of Bridgestone’s Global Sustainability Committee. In addition, he will take on responsibility for the company’s Global Corporate Strategy and Talent Creativity Enhancement activities.
