Greenval Technologies investing 20 million euros in Spain pyrolysis tyre recycling plant
Greenval Technologies has announced plans to invest 20 million euros in the construction of tyre pyrolysis/energy generation plant in Aspe, Spain. The facility is scheduled to start running in 2023 and will generate more than 100 jobs during construction plus 30 ongoing jobs at the facility. Aspe City Council is said to be already studying the proposal in light of the necessary licenses.
According to local news reports, the facility is the first of its kind in the Valencian Community and the second in Spain. However, the latest Greenval project is part of a plan to implement four factories across the country. Spanish title “Informacion” reports that the 20-million-euro figure represents the initial phase of an overall investment of 48 million euros, which is attached to the goal of processing 40,000 tons of tyre arisings a year.
Greenval Technologies specializes in pyrolytic depolymerization applied to end-of-life tyres and plastics. The company was founded in 2012 and is made up of Sisener Ingenieros and MBO, both companies with extensive experience in the renewable energy, mining and fuel marketing sectors.
Grupo Soledad partnering with Greenval for further plants
In addition, leading Spanish tyre retailer, distributor and retreader, Grupo Soledad, has reached a corporate agreement with Greenval to install the same power generation system in the tyre recycling plants it owns in Andalusia, Palencia and Toledo.
Greenval’s Zaragoza demonstration plant has a capacity of 5,500 tons of waste per year and 1,600 hours of proven operation. In the case of the Aspe location, the tyre processing centre will have the capacity to process 10,000 tons per year. The technology is said to be “completely developed in Spain”.
