Borbet names Michael Wellenzohn CEO
From 1 January 2023, Michael Wellenzohn will become chief executive officer of alloy wheel manufacturer Borbet, the first non-family member to hold this position in the company’s history. Wellenzohn succeeds Margot Borbet, who has served as chief executive officer since 2019 and in future will head the company’s controlling body, the Borbet Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Wellenzohn was most recently a member of the board of Deutz AG for nine years, and prior to that managing director at ThyssenKrupp Presta Steering for 18 years. He has many years of international experience in the automotive and mechanical engineering sectors. In addition, he has been a Bord of Trustees member within the Borbet Foundation for one and a half years.
Mastering the tasks ahead
“I am very much looking forward to my new task and to the confidence the owner family has placed in me,” states Michael Wellenzohn. “Together we will optimally align the company for the future in these challenging times. Borbet is facing tough competition worldwide. Together with our employees, we will master the tasks ahead of us. Our agility, flexibility and the outstanding quality of our products are important pillars of success.”
Margot Borbet, chairwoman of the Borbet Foundation’s Board of Trustees, adds: “Michael Wellenzohn already knows the company and brings years of experience in top management in the industry. Borbet is well positioned, the course has been set. Michael Wellenzohn will continue and accelerate the transformation we have started. I am looking forward to our cooperation.”
