BM Catalysts: SCRs popular as aftermarket supports NOx exhaust emission reduction
BM Catalysts’ Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) references have continued to grow in popularity in line with market forecasts, with considerably strong launch sales reported across the UK and Europe. The global SCR market size is estimated to reach US$24 billion by 2030, with more than a 13.2 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR)1.
For its part, BM Catalysts prioritised the introduction of specific in-demand volume references, which include small PSA delivery vans that are prone to failure and where availability is key, launching five preliminary references to cover 92 fitments. The relevant kits and pressure pipes are also available.
Maintaining its position as Europe’s leading supplier of aftermarket hot end emissions products, the company has committed to significantly increasing the size of its SCR range over the coming months, alongside its already established range of catalytic converters, diesel particulate filters and front pipes.
SCRs work with diesel exhaust fluids, such as AdBlue, and can reduce a vehicle’s nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions up to 90 per cent, while also reducing hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and particulate matter emissions.
The technology has become commonplace to treat emissions from diesel engines over 1.6 litres following the introduction of Euro 6 emissions standards in 2015, which cut permitted NOx emissions by more than 50 percent.
Mark Blinston, commercial director at BM Catalysts, said: “Although industry-wide availability on the product group is limited at present, we’re already seeing strong demand for our SCR references. And as many of the newer Euro 6 vehicles feature this technology and will be entering the vehicle parc over the next few years, it’s clear that this market is set to grow at a considerable rate. It is therefore imperative that the aftermarket is fully informed and has readily available access to high-quality SCRs.”
Blinston added: “With SCRs set to become a key product range as we move towards a cleaner future, BM Catalysts will continue to make strides to further support the aftermarket by investing in our extensive product development programme.”
