GitiWinterW2 range rises to 39 sizes, covering 90% targeted European demand
Giti Tire has extended its GitiWinterW2 range to 39 sizes between 15 and 19 inches, including the SUV variant of the winter tyre. The pattern now covers 90 per cent of targeted winter market demand throughout Europe. The smallest size, 175/65R15 is designed for cars such as the Fiat 500, Mini and Toyota Yaris, while the 255/50R19 fits such models as the Audi Q4, BMW X5 and X6, Mercedes GLC, Skoda Enyaq iV and VW ID.4 and ID.5. Originally launched in August 2021 in 13 core sizes, Giti says the second iteration of the product delivers improved dry dynamics, wet braking and aquaplaning resistance, while maintaining the first generation’s snow and ice grip and traction.
In comparison tests against the GitiWinterW1, the GitiWinterW2 improved aquaplaning resistance by 30 per cent, wet braking by 14 per cent, dry handling by 10 per cent and dry braking by 8 per cent. All this was achieved while preserving the original’s high level of snow and ice performance, fuel efficiency and a quiet dB reading.
Designed using AdvanZtech, the Giti Tire’s globally-integrated, company-wide R&D system, the manufacturer’s key targets for the tyre were a quiet and comfortable ride, safety without worry and precise control. Key product design features include a redesigned directional tread pattern to optimise dry, wet and snow performance and an advanced tread compound with new functional polymer to improve grip. An updated shoulder block with advanced tie-bar design improves control and an optimised pitch ratio delivers quietness and comfort.
Fabio Pecci-Boriani, senior product manager PCR, SUV, Light Truck for Giti Tire (Europe), said: “When the tyre originally launched last year I stated that no matter what your driving style, the GitiWinterW2 will deliver a great driving performance in all winter conditions.
“The response from our distribution partners, tyre sellers and motorists has backed up this claim, during its first full season the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
“Now the size rollout is complete and we’re covering 90 per cent of our target market even more drivers will have the opportunity to enjoy the precise control and safety which make the GitiWinterW2 a real pleasure to own.”
As a winter tyre, the full range carries the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
The GitiWinterW2 was designed and engineered at Giti Tire’s European Research & Development Centre in Hannover, Germany with testing at the company’s MIRA facility in the UK, Germany and Finland.
The GitiWinterW2 passenger car tyre has rims ranging from 15”-18″, section widths from 175-245, series sizes from 40-65 and speed indices including T, H and V. The GitiWinterW2 SUV, designed specifically for SUV and CUV vehicles, has rims ranging from 16”-19″, section widths from 215-255, series sizes from 50-65 and speed indices including H and V.
