Falken Motorsports introducing latest generation 911 GT3 R
Falken Motorsports will debut the future successor to its well-known Porsche 911 GT3 R at the upcoming Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) race. It will field this latest car, which is based on Porsche’s 992 model, in an eye-catching ‘Erlkönig’ livery.
The new car is the third generation of Porsche that Falken Motorsports has raced with since 2011. The team initially fielded a 997-based GT3 before progressing to the current 991 model in 2018. The fresh 992-based model boasts numerous changes, with its naturally aspirated 4.2-litre boxer engine producing up to 565 hp (previously 550 hp), depending on the BoP rating. The body is lighter too, thanks to increased use of carbon. Refined aerodynamics help the car achieve even higher downforce with optimum balance. One thing that remains unchanged from the predecessor is the sequential 6-speed gearbox.
“All in all, the new Porsche 911 GT3 R impresses with a plus in performance combined with simplified operating conditions,” comments Falken Tyres. “The aim of the further development was to make the race car permanently competitive in endurance races as well.” Fans will see how the new Falken-shod GT3 performs on the Nürburgring Nordschleife on 22 October, at the eighth round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series. Klaus Bachler and Julien Andlauer will drive the new model (#4). Martin Ragginger and Tim Heinemann take turns in the proven 991 model (#3).
