Stuart Lovatt named TyreSafe chair
TyreSafe has appointed Stuart Lovatt as its new chair. Stuart has worked closely with TyreSafe for many years as part of his previous role as Strategic Road Safety Lead at National Highways and brings with him extensive experience in road safety strategy and delivery at the highest level.
Stuart Lovatt’s tenure begins 1 September following the departure of Stuart Jackson who steps down after 14 years as chair. According to a TyreSafe statement naming the new chair, Stuart Jackson’s commitment to TyreSafe was “instrumental in its growth and the numerous campaign successes the charity achieved during this time”, adding: “TyreSafe thanks him for all he has done and wishes him every success”.
Commenting on the social media, Stuart Jackson added: “It’s been an incredible 14 years and we’ve achieved so much – often far more than we ever gave ourselves credit for. I look forward now to watching TyreSafe consolidate it’s position, even further, as a principle road safety organisation.”
Stuart Lovatt has represented National Highways and supported the Department of Transport at a range of national strategic road safety Boards and Committees, including the National Road Safety Committee for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and the Parliamentary Council for Transport Safety Behavioural Advisory Group (PACTS). His work in the national road safety community led to his invitation to the United Nations Global Road Safety Committee, which he first attended in 2019.
Stuart is also a judge for both the HRH Prince Michael of Kent’s International Road Safety Awards, a role he has fulfilled for over 18 years, and the TyreSafe Awards.
Stuart Lovatt, TyreSafe chair said: “I’ve been a supporter and advocate of TyreSafe since its inception and have seen how much it has grown. I’m excited to build on those achievements and delighted to have been appointed TyreSafe Chair.
“Forthcoming initiatives internationally and nationally in road safety make this the ideal moment to explore opportunities for TyreSafe to carry its expertise and tyre safety message to stakeholders who can support our ambition to reduce the number of tyre-related incidents on Britain’s roads. I look forward to leveraging those opportunities in my role as TyreSafe Chair.”
