Sentury launches Qirin EV

During The Tire Cologne show, which took place in May, we spotted the Landsail Qirin EV concept tyre on the stand of wholesaler Inter-Sprint. It is a concept no longer, as Qingdao Sentury Tire officially debuted the tyre yesterday.

Qirin EV adopts new compound formulas and materials, including eco-friendly bio-based oils and polyesters. The aim at Sentury Tire, states company president Lin Wenlong, is to is to utilise 100 per cent sustainable and recyclable materials by 2050.

“By 2027, Sentury will have the capacity to make more than 5 million high end new energy vehicle tyres, with an annual growth rate in line with global expansion of new energy vehicle tyres,” shared Lin at the launch ceremony in Qingdao, China. He added that this would help establish Sentury Tire’s image as a “global leader in high-end new energy vehicle tyres.”

The Qirin EV range displayed at The Tire Cologne will be sold in a range of 16 sizes for 16- to 20-inch rim diameters. Inter-Sprint says the first Qirin EV sizes it will offer in its Landsail distribution region are the 18- to 20-inch sizes that fit the Tesla Model 3, the best-selling electric car in Europe. Grouptyre is strategic partner to Landsail in the UK and distributes the brand through its network.
