Pirelli P Zero Corsa for Pagani Utopia
Horacio Pagani’s most recent creation, the Utopia, is exclusively equipped with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. The new hypercar was revealed at the Leonardo da Vinci Science and Technology Museum in Milan, complete with bespoke tyres developed by Pirelli to deliver not only ultimate performance in all driving conditions but also on-board comfort, while enhancing the car’s exciting dynamics and the unique feeling enjoyed by the driver.
Pirelli chose the P Zero Corsa to meet these objectives as it considers this a product that “makes full use of all the lessons learned in motorsport.” The tyre maker explains that technology within the compounds and tread pattern allows the P Zero Corsa to cope with extremely high power and torque outputs in all temperatures and on every road surface. Using this tyre as a base, Pirelli then evolved the P Zero Corsa’s versatility to ensure the comfort that is an integral part of the Utopia project, as imagined by Horacio Pagani – with the car’s silhouette stamped on the sidewall to denote the bespoke development.
The Utopia wears the P Zero Corsa in size 265/35ZR21 at the front and 325/30ZR22 at the rear. A tailor-made P Zero Winter tyre is also available for colder conditions.
Saving time & materials
Virtual technology, an approach pioneered in motorsport, played a key role in tyre development for the Pagani Utopia. The latest techniques allow Pirelli to create a digital tyre model, which can be accurately calibrated and tested before a physical prototype is even built. This methodology is faster, more sustainable, and efficient than the traditional process, allowing Pirelli to precisely define a tyre according to a manufacturer’s exact specifications and then test it virtually, saving both time and primary materials.
Pirelli has worked with Pagani for more than a decade and says its collaboration has been characterised by a “mission to unite state-of-the-art technology with cutting-edge style.” The highlights of the story so far have been P Zero tyres for the Zonda, P Zero Trofeo R for the Huayra Roadster BC, and now the latest P Zero Corsa for the Utopia. Pirelli adds in closing that the next chapter is “still being written.”
