Norgesdekk to distribute Vredestein in Norway
From 1 October 2022, Apollo Tyres will stop direct sales of Vredestein tyres in Norway and transfer distribution to wholesaler Norgesdekk. The two parties have negotiated an exclusive distribution deal covering supply of Vredestein-brand passenger car, light truck and classic tyres. Apollo Tyres Nordic AB will continue to sell the company’s off-highway and truck/bus products in all Nordic markets.
According to Apollo Tyres, transferring distribution to Norgesdekk will enable it to “accelerate plans” to increase the Vredestein brand’s market share in Norway. Jone Stangeland, chief financial officer and shareholder of Norgesdekk, adds: “We have a long-term relationship with Apollo Tyres and are incredibly proud to take the Vredestein brand forward. This partnership will help to drive awareness and availability of Vredestein products across the country.”
Norgesdekk offers Norway’s widest range of tyres and wheels for cars, trucks, agriculture machines and specialised vehicles. The wholesaler’s 43,000 m² of warehouse space offers capacity to stock more than 550,000 tyres and wheels. The deal enables Norgesdekk to expand its product offering, benefiting from Apollo Tyres’ profile and research and development strategy in Europe.
Fulfilling Vredestein’s true potential
“This new distribution deal with Norgesdekk is central to our strategy to strengthen our operational footprint across the Nordics,” says Frank Migo, regional sales manager, Apollo Tyres Nordics. “Our Vredestein tyres have proved to be very popular in these countries, thanks to performance characteristics that are well suited to the climate and road conditions. Our strong relationship with Norgesdekk will allow the brand to fulfil its true potential in Norway.”
Norgesdekk originated from the Jæren Dekk Group and was established as an independent wholesale chain in February 2010. Since its inception, Norgesdekk has developed into Norway’s largest independent wholesaler for tyres and aluminium rims. Through acquisitions and investments, the company has expanded its facilities across Norway, including seven branches from Narvik in the north to Kristiansand in the south. In 2021, Norgesdekk recorded a turnover of nearly NOK 1 billion (£86 million).
