Early 2023 launch for Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V4
The fourth generation of the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa is now completing its final stages of development and testing, and Pirelli says both versions of the motorcycle tyre that “symbolises sports riding” will be available to buy from the start of 2023. Their release will complete a renewal of the Diablo Sport range that began in 2021 with the Diablo Rosso IV and continued this year with the Diablo Rosso IV Corsa.
When developing the Diablo Supercorsa V4, Pirelli says it “completely renewed” the tyre’s tread design, compounds, structures and profiles. Both the SP racing street version and the SC option, which is available in different compounds and designed for track use, are homologated for road use.
SC & SP
Pirelli drew upon its experience as sole tyre supplier to the FIM Superbike World Championship when developing the original Diablo Supercorsa SC. It launched the first-generation product in 2007, three years after commencing its Superbike engagement, with the SP (Sport Production) version following a year later.
The tyre maker states that in SC compound guise, over the years the Diablo Supercorsa has become the “absolute reference of the Supersport and Superstock classes” globally as well as in many national championships. It “still represents the standard” for those competitions that continue to use treaded tyres, adds Pirelli.
For non-professional riders, the SP version “represented a revolution in the world of road tyres for motorcycles.” Pirelli credits this tyre with creating a new segment, that of racing-derived hypersport tyres designed to equip the most prestigious and powerful supersports bikes in the world, the same bikes seen in action in the Superbike World Championship. Over time, and with the evolution of two-wheeled motoring leading to hypernaked bikes with performance similar to their faired counterparts, Diablo Supercorsa SP has “become the reference supersport tyre” for all owners of high-performance bikes who “want an uncompromising riding experience on the road, thanks to the highest level of grip and performance.”
Best example of track to road transfer
We sell what we race, we race what we sell: Pirelli says Diablo Supercorsa SP remains to-date the “best and most direct example of technological transfer from the track to the road among Pirelli tyres” as it high-performance shares the profiles and many materials and technologies used for the structure with the SC version. But unlike the SC, which uses full racing compounds, to meet road requirements and ensure adequate milage the SP adopts a dual compound solution comprised of a racing compound on the shoulders and a road compound in the central band.
The SC version, available in different compounds that adapt to different asphalt conditions and temperatures, remains the “first choice” for professional, semi-professional or track day enthusiasts who want a treaded tyre capable of offering maximum performance when ridden on a circuit.
