Dark Horse: P Zero tyres for top-end Mustang
Ford revealed its seventh-generation Mustang today, the first entirely new model since 2014. Sitting at the top of the range is the Mustang Dark Horse, a car Ford calls the “ultimate expression of track capability.” Equipped with a 5.0-litre V8 and either a TREMEC six-speed manual transmission or optional ten-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, the Ford Mustang Dark Horse delivers its power to the road via Pirelli P Zero PZ4 tyres. It wears a 255/40 R19 version of the PZ4 on a 19 x 9-inch rim at the front and a 275/40 R19 tyre on the 19 x 9.5-inch rear rim.
In addition to Pirelli tyres, Ford Mustang Dark Horse comes with a standard performance package for increased track capability, with an auxiliary engine oil cooler, lightweight radiator and rear axle cooler providing additional endurance of high loads. A standard Torsen limited-slip differential also maximises available traction. The car also features a unique electronic drift brake, engineered for both novices and experts to improve their drift skills, and benefits from unique chassis tuning, including larger rear anti-roll bars, heavy-duty front dampers, a front strut tower brace and rear K-brace.
A unique gloss black grille and a shadow graphic around the LED headlights mark out the Mustang Dark Horse, while a redesigned lower front bumper, side skirts, fixed rear wing and a race-inspired diffuser emphasise the car’s track credentials.
