China’s first aviation tyre R&D centre opening in October
With construction of main buildings now complete, China’s first research and development facility for aircraft tyres is expected to open early next month. Guangzhou Development District Management Committee reports that the first scientific researchers are now moving into the Aviation Tire Exhibition Center, an integral part of the Aviation Tire Science Center, and are preparing to start work.
The committee comments that after the project is completed, the facility in the town of Xinglon will serve as a “world-class aviation tyre R&D and innovation base.” The centre’s planned total area is 25,267 square metres and the total construction area is 39,678 square metres. The Exhibition Center simulates the take-off, landing, and rollout tests of various types of aircraft with ultra-high acceleration to verify the suitability of the materials within tyres as well as their structural design.
In addition, the Aviation Tire Exhibition Center will include an aircraft landing gear drop shock, sway vibration test bench, and a road surface environment simulation test bench, which can simulate how tyres behave on various surfaces and in a range of weather conditions and temperatures.
